Terms of Service

1. Who we are

LakbayBook (“LakbayBook”, “we”, “us”) is a trip workbook product operated by Ernest John Maskariño. These Terms govern your access to and use of the website, apps, and related services that let you plan, share, publish, and collaborate on trip workbooks.

2. Agreement

By creating an account, signing in, or using LakbayBook, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

3. The service

LakbayBook provides tools such as:

• Private and shared trip workbooks (itinerary, hotels, food places, expenses, emergency, prep, and related sheets)
• Collaborator invites and role-based editing
• Publishing workbooks to World / Explore for others to view, upvote, or copy
• Profiles, follows, leaderboards, and Atlas / passport stamps derived from finished published trips
• LakBi, an in-product assistant powered by third-party AI (currently Google Gemini)

Features may change, pause, or end as we improve the product. We may offer free and paid tiers in the future; if prices apply, we will describe them before you pay.

4. Accounts

• You must provide accurate account details and keep your password confidential.
• You are responsible for activity under your account.
• You must be old enough to form a binding contract where you live (and at least 13 years old, or the higher digital-consent age in your region).
• We may suspend or close accounts that violate these Terms or put others at risk.

5. Your content

You keep ownership of trip content you create (titles, itineraries, notes, uploads, cover images, expense entries, and similar). You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, store, process, display, and transmit that content as needed to run LakbayBook—including sharing it with collaborators you invite and showing it publicly when you publish or share.

You represent that you have the rights to the content you upload and that it does not infringe others’ rights or break the law.

6. Publishing, sharing, and safety

• Public / Explore. When you set a workbook to public or publish it, anyone with the link (and Explore visitors) may view trip details you included. Think carefully before sharing live locations, lodging addresses, or schedules for trips that have not ended.
• Collaborators. People you invite may edit according to the roles you assign. Revoke access when someone should no longer contribute.
• Copies. Others may copy public itineraries into their own private drafts. Originals remain yours; copies become their responsibility.

LakbayBook is a planning tool, not emergency, medical, legal, or travel advice. Verify visas, bookings, safety, and emergency numbers yourself.

7. Acceptable use

Do not:

• Abuse, harass, or harm others, or post illegal, hateful, or exploitative content
• Attempt unauthorized access, scrape at abusive rates, or disrupt the service
• Use LakBi or other features to generate malware, scams, or content that violates the law
• Misrepresent identity or impersonate others
• Resell access to the service without our written permission

8. LakBi and AI

LakBi suggestions (cover copy, booking parse helpers, chat tips, photo lookups, and similar) are generated with third-party AI and may be incomplete or wrong. You are responsible for reviewing and deciding what to save into your workbook.

9. Third-party services

We use infrastructure and providers such as Cloudflare (hosting and edge functions), Supabase (auth and database), email providers for invites/password reset when configured, map or media helpers, and AI providers. Their terms may also apply to the portions they power.

10. Intellectual property

LakbayBook branding, UI, and software (excluding your content) belong to us or our licensors. You may not copy the product, reverse engineer it except where allowed by law, or use our marks without permission.

11. Disclaimers

The service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee uninterrupted uptime, perfect sync, or that AI or emergency data is complete.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or trip disruption arising from your use of LakbayBook. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amounts you paid us for the service in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) USD $50 if you paid nothing.

13. Termination

You may stop using LakbayBook and delete your account in Account settings when that control is available. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms or if we shut down or redesign the service. Provisions that should survive (including ownership, disclaimers, and liability limits) will survive.

14. Changes

We may update these Terms. We will change the “Last updated” date and, for material changes, provide a reasonable notice when practical (for example in-product or by email). Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
